All I can say about sdcard is that I had two bad cards from SanDisk and a lot of good cards from SanDisk. Even so from other big manufacturers like Trancent or Kingston. It's a bit of being lucky or unlucky which one got.

Second thing is never had any rom which "damaged" a card. Since I replaced my uhs1 signed class 10 card with a "normal" I never had any problems with "Black screen of Death" and Freezing anymore. Setting min CPU speed to 384 and all Animation options in Dev options might help too.

By the way some HD2 seems to have issues with 64gb and uhs1 cards cause the SD reader isn't really designed for them although they are working on it.
