Nice idea to allow us to introduce ourselves. I'm Rob, a 50 year old truck driver (Teamster local 769) and long-time computer hobbyist and enthusiast. I've been running Linux as my primary computer OS since 1999 and Gentoo Linux (a source-based distribution) since 2003. My first PC was a Compaq 286 with a whopping 512K of RAM and a 20mb hard drive (that had to be partitioned because DOS 3.0 wouldn't recognize drives larger than 10mb) lol.
I came to Android several months ago though I followed the project(s) with interest from the beginning. It's Linux based after all.

Being the local computer Guru to all of my friends and family has a few benefits. I removed a severe virus infestation from a co-worker's laptop (for a modest fee) and he gave me my HD2 as a tip (it had a broken digitizer that wouldn't allow past the login).
I replaced the digitizer and got the phone working, but then came to realize the default Windows was lacking. I looked for alternatives, which is how I came to XDA forums, and later here. I've tried literally 2 dozen ROMs over the past several months. It didn't take long to discover that Tytung's were consistently stable, feature packed, and stayed close to the "Android experience" without much cruft. I lurked and followed, though never felt compelled to post on the other forum. However I followed him (Tytung) here when I began seeing how badly the mods there were treating him and his work there.
So we are all here to learn new things and have fun!
Ciao
