Happy birthday Dr. Who!!!

Postby Odysseus » Sat Nov 23, 2013 7:07 am

I did a Google search just past midnight and I noticed they had a tribute up celebrating the good Dr.'s 50th aniversery on TV, making it one of the longest running shows in history. I remember as a kid watching several year old reruns shown on local public TV and being glued to the set as Tom Baker (my favorite Dr. Who) would save the world from aliens from other worlds, dimensions, and time. His epic battles against the evil Daleks were legendary and made quite an impression on this youngster's mind.

So on this 50th anniversary of my favorite time-Lord I raise a toast in his honor and thank the creative minds over at the BBC for giving the world so many years of great science fiction entertainment.

Happy 50th good Doctor, may you have 50 more!!!

Thanks for the heads-up!!!

For those following the link Tom left above, have a bit of patience. It leads to a special tribute page at the BBC website which must be getting Slashdotted at the moment with all of the additional traffic today. For those of us here in the States BBC America is broadcasting a special Dr. Who movie @2:50pm ESTwith a pre movie tribute starting @2:30pm EST. Here's a link to a special BBC America tribute page which also lists the time for the encore broadcast in your timezone http://www.bbcamerica.com/doctor-who/gu ... he-doctor/

Loves me some fresh.Dr. Who!!!

I do sort of remember Hartnell, definitely Troughton, Pertwee was my favourite, Baker 2nd fav, a few who's Who? in between ;) The last 3 have been good, and i have enjoyed the xmas specials lately and the recent revivals generally.
I think I have only read 1 doctor who book, around the time of Pertwee, can't remember what.
I read books for relaxing and I only ever read Science Fiction, have done for years, funny that.
