This is a significant problem that has been around on mostly custom roms. As for the information given on this matter, Stock roms has the new ION drivers wich allows it to view and render much better than on old devices.

Given the the fact that most old devices do work on the old PMEM drivers ,the issue of the blackscreen in FaceBook Messenger and other applications which do use ION drivers would always be a problem unless the kernel is rewritten in a different format allowing this to function correctly. Having said , the new kernel 3.xx should have the new ION drivers integrated for most new cameras on recently launched stock roms.

This issue has been related also to the problems given or found in the previous versions of Andriod prior to the version 4.2. As much as it is known ,there are different developers working along on this matter to write a common algorithm for the Samsung s5k2 e2fx 5M driver in the version 4.7 and up.

Relating to the issues:
The most practical way to share your pictures for the moment is by making these with the phones camera application and loading it up as an attachment to your share social media. This is may be a work around for you and others untill a functional method is found.

Just if it has similar hw... And I doubt! When this SoC was out Chinese devices was so far away from HD2

yes ... this is the first lollipop rom for our hd2 ... by macs18max .
but we are waiting for tytung's lollipop ... with new kernel

we all think that mr tytung is working on lollipop rom, but i cant find any news from tytung about that .
Can you please say anything Master Tytung .... 'cuz the wating is soo boring

There has been many HTC clones on the chinese market in the past that may seem similar on the exterior ,but nevertheless equipped with the same hardware configuration
As far as chinese brand devices , the only Device similar to the T-Mobile and Vodafone version HD2 would be the
MTK Dual Sim HD2 Clone.

Need less to say that if you have either this device that is mentioned or one of the other stock versions , then your probability would be higher. It is doubtful that the ROM in question will work ,install ,run or work perfectly if it does not comply with the hardware requirements as stated by another member to you prior.
