Native sd hangs on boot

Postby paulryan37 » Sun Sep 15, 2013 7:22 pm

When I Install any of the Jellybean roms to a ext4 primary partition 2 gb in size. I have a problem that the roms won't boot from a cold start but usually load from reboot ok. To get the phone to boot in the morning I usually have to pull the battery first then it boots ok but not every time. Anyone have any ideas what the issue is?

Could the native sd folder or file be corrupted I would guess this folder is rewritten when a new rom is installed.

Is this a recent phenomena on an install that had previously been working or is this occurring on a new install?
Current device: HTC Amaze 4G
Bootloader: HTC - Dev unlocked, S-on
Recovery: 4ext - smart flash enabled
ROM: CM-10 - Compiled and customized by me - thanks spostsstar89 - CM - Team Nightmare
Xposed framework - rovo89
GravityBox - C3C076

Previous device: HTC HD2 (TMOUS - LEO1024)
Final ROM: NexusHD2-JellyBean-CM10.1.3 v2.7 - Tytung
Had more lives than a cat, best handset I ever owned
Lesson: If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

What method are you using to format your SD card, how old is it, and how fast (what class) is it?
Also which boot loader do you use?

Loading apps and using link2sd is not the same as booting from the card. Have you had a chance to test a different card? If possible, try a Class 6 or Class 10 card (not ultra) and see if it makes a difference.

As importantly, did you change magldr to correctly load from a NativeSD installation?

Cheers!

It has been a while so maybe someone will correct me but as I recall once you load Magldr choose option 10, then option 1, then option 3. This will show you a list of all the directories on your card. Find and select the one for your Native sd installation. You already set your boot preference to android sd based on the above.

If you are still having issues this thread may be of some help - it is old but probably still useful. :)

Cheers!

OK tried another SD card and it seems to boot ok but the card is only 8gb and too small so I need to purchase another 16gb card you said try another card not an ULTRA what is wrong with Sandisk ultra's?

Thinking of buying a integral’s 16gb microSDHC Class 10 memory card

Nothing wrong with Sandisk Ultra, per se, but for some reason that I cannot explain, some HD2s have had issues with some of the cards. Not certain if if the issue is the card or the HD2 or the process of prepping it.

Nonetheless, in my personal experience Class 6 cards (e.g. Samsung) and many Class 10 (not ultra) cards seem to perform better and more reliably. If you wish to experiment and you have the time and money some of the older Sandisk Ultra cards also seem to be more reliable with the HD2. These include model numbers SDSDQY-032G-A11A (32 GB) and SDSDQY-064G-A11A (64 GB) as these models were originally rated only Class 6.

You can read more about some SD cards methodologies in the thread shown in my signature if you wish.

Cheers!
