Best Radio for Android

Postby ra9na » Wed Dec 11, 2013 10:03 am

Hello all!

I would like to know, which Radio you are using on your HD2?
Maybe we could start a poll, so we can see the results better...?!
I also think this could possibly explain, why someone's HD2 is running perfectly with a ROM and another HD2 not.
Currently I am running 2.12.50.02 and the ROM (I'm on NexusHD2-JellyBean-CM10.2 V3.3) is pretty nice, but sometimes it just hangs witout a reason. Maybe a change of the Radio would help. Anyway I will try to change it to the latest (2.15.50.14) and see, if it will get better.

You're going to find that opinions about HD2 radios have led to many arguments on the boards over the years. I might say "B" is better and you may say "A" is and we could both be right. A lot has to do not only on which ROM you're running, but also which carrier. Someone on T-Mobile US is going to find the radio that works best for him at his location may not work so well for a Tellis user in Canada. My experience was the latest T-Mobile radio worked best for me, but I'm also a T-mobile user, so that may have something to do with my results.

All I can say for sure based upon my experience and what I've read on the boards is using one of the later radios generally gives a better balance of data and WiFi reception performance without hindering battery life. Some of the older radios sometimes had better data performance at the expense of WiFi or battery. Only you can judge for your own circumstance. Try one out, take notes as to usage and uptime, then compare with different ones until you find what suits you best. But remember to give each one a chance. You need to use for several days under different conditions to make fair judgments.
