prevent ads in programs

Postby deli_09 » Wed Sep 18, 2013 12:29 pm

Hello.

Just simple, firstfully you're great. i have been using your roms for long time and loaded almost any rom you publish. With roms till v1.4, in many programs i used, there were no ads, but after than (now i use v2.6) and now i see ads almost in any program. Is there a way to solve this problem in newer versions as you solved in v1.4

Thanks.

Hoşgeldin:)
I suggest to use adaway for blocking any adverts on apps, browsers etc... It will replace/update built in hosts file.

You can use Adfree application on Play Store for updating your host file...

You are right. They are not available on Google but the link you specified a post or two back is correct.

You could also flash this in recovery to replace the HOSTS file:

XDA: Mother of All AD-BLOCKING -- BLOCKS Malware Spyware Bloatware

You'll want to bookmark that thread and manually repeat the download-and-flash process every few months or so, though, since it won't automatically update.

I posted about this and gave the same link some time ago. You'll find towards the bottom of the first post a link which leads to a url that streams the same anti-ad host file continuously. All you have to do is copy the link url into your preferred adblocker and you're good to go with automatic updates as they become available. For example AdAway, which is available at the open source F-Droid market, can use it. However, if you use the hidden adblocker in Romtoolbox Pro, you have to disable auto update in the adblock preferences or the "mother of all adblock" host file will be overwritten on the next update.

I hope this helps.

Ciao
