slow response with 16gb card/increase ram?

Postby chaudhary9 » Thu Sep 19, 2013 1:17 pm

i have flashed fresh jellybean v2.6 cm10.1 with data on ext on my T mobile Hd2
it should have 512mb ram but it shows only 410mb,how can i use full ram?
also since today its responding very slow since i opened its browser which was not opening any site n kept on saying wait or close,i even rebooted
then i have overclocked processor to 1075
also i opened ram settings n checked all of them for better performace though i have not rebooted which was required for that,is it safe to select all of them
and why has it gone slow,i am using class 4 card but its nand flash and not native sd

Hi Chaudhary. I have an HD2 with 510 Mb. like yours. I think the problem is the slow SD (only class 4, like the last one I've used before a class 10).
With data on ext systems I think it's "normal" that the overall speed with a class 4 SD is low 'cause you need to tranfer an amount of data very high using your cell.
Bored of the slow speed I've buy a Samsung MicroSD with class 10 and now my HD2 it's at fully speed everytime I need it! So I think your problem and the solution are the same I've encountered some time ago: buy for a better performance SD...

You could use a faster card (Class 6 or perhaps even 10) to speed things up somewhat.

The 410 MB is normal as the difference is used by the system (graphics, if I remember correctly).

The delays and slow response are possibly due to low memory if you are running a lot of apps from boot. Which browser are you using? Some, like Chrome, require more resources than the HD2 can offer.

You can also experiment with various (more strict) min free settings (there a re a number of apps, such as ROM Toolbox, which will make that easy) or you can try installing a swap file which also seems to help.

Cheers!

i was confused about buying class 10 but some one suggested not to go for uhs but get a non uhs n there was no way to determine if class10 is uhs or not and as uhs had issues with hd2,so i instead bought a class 4 to be on the safe side,if i use nand only, then will it be fine?
it was default browser of rom n no other app was running,i always check n kill apps

You should be alright with a class 4, in some cases a class 4 works better than faster cards. As to whether a class 10 card is UHS-1 or not it should be clearly marked on the packaging or on the website you purchase from. UHS-1 is a feature that adds value to the card (to everyone but those of us with old devices), so anyone selling an SD card with this capability will surely be advertising it.

Think of CL-10 as being a subset of UHS-1. A card can be CL-10, but not UHS-1, however all UHS-1 cards are also CL-10. There are many class 10 cards out on the market, but it's primarily the older generation ones that aren't UHS-1. Nearly all of the latest ones are both CL10 and UHS-1. I've seen some are out now that claim UHS-2 speeds too, which have probably no chance at all of working in our HD2s.

I agree with much of what you said except you should never say never or always or the like.. :D

Note the description of SanDisk card model SDSDQY-032G-A11A and SDSDQY-064G-A11A from the manufacturer's page:

Get more speed (up to 30MB/s* and enabled Class 6) for faster photo, Full HD† video and app performance on your mobile phone or tablet with SanDisk® Mobile Ultra™ microSDHC™ memory cards. The included SD™ adapter lets you quickly transfer files from your PC to your mobile phone or tablet – so you can get the most out of your mobile phone.

Perhaps the above was the reason those particular models seemed to be more reliable in the HD2's old bus, I don't know.

Cheers!

i tried that
there is nothing written on packing
and shop keepers here don't know that either
i checked website of kingston that showed its uhs-1
that is why i didnt took chances,i did some search so i know uhs is new n has speeds upto 30mb where as class 10 has 10mb/s
also the distributor from where i bought the card did not had class 10 cards as he told me they get corrupted mostly so they are not keeping those,i wanted class 10,there was not much of price difference but only issue of if its uhs or non uhs
anyways i hope it works fine as it was working
today it got really slow so i overclocked it

download speed since today is very very slow on google play,my connection is very fast but download speed is so slow,it is very annoying

i tested the speeds
writing speed 5.6mb/s
reading speed 20.6mb/s

Maybe there is so much songs in your card. Or your card speed is slowly.
If you have any problem with Android recovery, you can click it.
