No need for that at all, since this is just an upgrade without factory reset and wiping data/cache. On the other hand, it's advisable to make backup of your files on your PC just in case, especially if you suffer from f l a s h i t i s like I do.

Before I installed the ROM I partitioned the SD Card on different ways.
With the Recovery Mod and with GParted on my Linux machnine.

No chance, everytime the same problems.

I'm considering that it's not issue comes from HD2 porting but from CyanogenMod side.
