But it also means that I will have to replace my old'n'good class2 sd-card to something faster

If the installation method on the initial page is used with a larger boot partition size (eq. 400mb) ,then all you need is a SDHC card that isn't one with the "Ultimate" ,"Pro" or "Extreme" brand mark. There is a detailed view on which card to use and why given on the forum and by a few users as well.
A trick i've done:
. Format and prepare a
32GB micro
SDHC Class 10 card
. Make the installation with the settings from the initial page and increase the boot size to
400mb
. Installation method NAND with Data on EXT4
. Partitions made:
Internal Storage partition
15.11GB = apps installed 499MB available size left 13.84GB
SD Card Storage Partition
13.20GB = apps data&media 420MB available size left 12.34GB
No application were moved to the SDCard ,no hardware accelerator changes. This installation works for me and give no problems so far with the version 4.7 . If there's any other method that you will ratherly try then I suggest the same ,to carefully look at the steps you need to do.
Let us know if your choice of installation works.
