I tried to do a straight update from v2.4 to v2.5 and my phone won't start anymore. It is stuck with a blank screen (backlight seems to be on). Can someone help?

In the meantime, I'll try downgrading to v2.4.

Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying for us.

Can you expand upon what you mean by won't start anymore? Do you see the startup splashscreen, MAGLDR (if using that), boot animation, etc.? At what point?

FWIW, there should be no issue flashing v2.5 over an existing v2.4.

Well, I guess I should have elaborated. When I upgraded to v2.5, I didn't see anything after the green htc logo; the screen turned blank but the backlight was still on.

I increased the size of the partition from 200MB to 300MB and retried the install. I was relieved to see the Cyanogenmod spinner boot animation. I still chose the minimal install option, FYI.

So maybe the 200MB partition isn't enough. Others haven't reported the same behavior though, so the root cause must be something else.

The suggested 200 is an absolute minimum.

If your device has bad blocks (and by now most HD2 devices do!) you will require more space or some component will be on a bad spot and no longer usable.

Cheers!

Oh wow, I wasn't aware of that. Is there any way to check for (and fix) these bad blocks?

Think of bad blocks as bad sectors on your harddisk. They are physical defects that cannot be fixed, only blocked from being written to.

Check the SD thread in my signature. Somewhere within the first 3 posts there is a section on bad blocks and how to find out about them.

Fix? No. The only fix is not to use that part of memory. ;)

I believe this is due to different sensor hardware in some LEO1024's. Having researched this and trying everything within my knowledge, I'm still here scratching my head.
The sensor works on WinMo by the way, so the hardware isn't at fault, just unaccounted for. Auto-rotation is the only thing that doesn't work.
Are there different accelerometer drivers I could try? I am prepared to troubleshoot this with instruction, I know the in's and out's of Android pretty well.
Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

BUMP, Anyone? ;)
