How to fix recovery mode.

Postby uguccione500 » Mon Sep 16, 2013 11:14 pm

Hello everyone.
I've try on my hd2, after successfull done the upgrade at the version 3.1 of this wonderful rom, to upgrade the recovery too installing the "recovery_5.0.2.6_leo_CWR" from the recovery menu and the sd.
Unfortunately was interrupted 'cause battery not fully charged (damn!) and now my LEO can't read the recovery mode at all.
There is a mode to fix it again to the originary installed version (HD2_Extended_TWRP_2.6.1.2) without lose the installed rom and all datas?
Thank you very much... :(((
HTC HD2 (LEO512)
Bootloader: MAGLDR v1.13
HSPL: 2.08.HSPL
Rom: NexusHD2-JellyBean-CM10.2 (V3.1)

Use a SD version of Recovery to flash "recovery_5.0.2.6_leo_CWR" to NAND.
Paste your logcat to GitHub Gist or any similar websites, and link it in your post if you need any help. (Don't forget to tell us your HD2 setup/configuration.)

Hello tytung. First of all a big thanks for your prompt answer.
I've try to make this steps (and it has worked!):
- downloaded recovery image (400M was my version) from XDA,
- installed the recovery,
- then installed your 3.1 rom (my rom was installed in NAND with data on ext as before the disaster) like an upgrade from the new recovery (actually the installed is CWM Recovery V3.0.0.5)
- rebooted LEO three times.
The result is that is all fixed and works again like a charms...
Now I have a new question: there's a new (better?) version of the recovery image I can install and if yes where I can find it (with little instructions for newbye for install it avoiding disasters)???
Sincerily a big thanks for your help... and to read my bad english! :P

Before you get too far, make sure that your recovery partition is at least 8 MB, preferably 10 MB. The older recoveries required much less space to install.

If your recovery partition is large enough you can use your current recovery to flash a new one. You should likely try this one (specific for the HD2) or this one.

Good luck!

Cheers!

Thank you NY... I don't know how much large is my recovery partition. Where can I find this info? I think is very little (4 MB) cause was made to mount the "original" textmode CWM recovery...
Here's a non destroyer tool to enlarge this partition with no data loss?
Thank you everyone for the infos... :)

I am not aware of any tools off-hand which could make the recovery partition bigger without destroying your setup. There may be some but I do not know them if so.

The "simplest" way to do this would be to

  1. Make a complete nandroid backup using your current recovery
  2. Repartition the device with something like DAF.EXE setting the recovery partition to 10 MB which will wipe everything but would reinstall your recovery
  3. Restore the nandroid backup you created in step on
  4. Use the existing recovery to flash a new recovery - pretty safe since you already have a good backup from step 1

Cheers!
