Hello Everyone:

I'm quite inexperienced with this type of thing - but I did successfully flash ICS to my HD2 and have been using it happily (though with limited apps) for some time. However when I tried to install KitKat v4.4, everything worked perfectly until I came to the point where I must set the phone up - I chose my language and when I tried to get past the next step (SIM insertion instructions), it kept telling me that "the setup wizard has stopped working". I even tried installing v4.3 fully (which seems to work better although it has trouble connecting to Wifi and the data doesn't seem to want to come on), and then flashing v4.4 again but still the same problem. I am using a 32 GB Sandisk card that looks like it is UHS-1.

Firstly, is there a specific way to flash v4.4 over v4.3 other than simply re-installing v4.4 in the manner v4.3 was installed?

Also, is there perhaps a known cause for why the setup wizard keeps crashing?

Finally, what are the major differences between v4.3 and v4.4?

Is your HD2 a US or EU model?
Is your previous installation NAND only or DataOnEXT or all SD based?
Did you select the same installation method for the new version?
What are your partition sizes?

I've re-installed v4.3 and it seems to be working beautifully. Wifi, data, everything running and I've already dowloaded a couple apps. Still curious about this whole thing with v4.4 though...

Install V4.3, finish the setup wizard, then install V4.4 and select No Wipe.

I am guessing you meant 4 gb ext4..

Try Soren' suggestion. If it doesn’t help check your SYSTEM partition size. It may be too small for the new ROM since you used to have /data in NAND also. You may have to make it bigger which is ok if putting data on the ext4 partition.

You need to use the same installation method, e.g., both NAND, when we said "flash v4.4 over v4.3".
Otherwise, your v4.4 using DataOnEXT is a fresh new install.

I have the same issue and I will try it again.
