There are LOADS of tutorials out there, even some really decent ones on youtube which will guide you through it all step by step, a quick search should turn up what you are after.

I installed AFWall+ (firewall) on this rom, and whilst most of the permissions are pretty straightforward, there are a few which had me stumped as to their need to connect to the internet, namely:

AppID -11 (Kernel) - Linux Kernel
AppID 1000 HWA Settings

My understanding of each of these is that the kernel is the interface between hardware/software and hwa settings is an app created to block/enable hardware acceleration, i have tried googling to find out more about why these would need access to the internet through the firewall, but unfortunately my searches have been unfruitful.

Can someone help me by letting me know if it is crippling to allow/not allow these 2 through, and if so, how so.

I have question about possibility of adding fast charge option to kernel? I think it would be great for HD2 now charging is little bit too slow...

Hi Nyarlathotep, I am not an expert about these things, but royale1223 (hwa app creator http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1766576) has said " About permissions, this is a system app. It uses an attribute `android:sharedUserId="android.uid.system"`, so this app have access to all the permissions available in android. Also it can change any file in your data partition. Check out the source code."
I would think the kernel also needs to have every permission in order to be able to use all of the phones features.
Hope this helps

Thanks Robbie, prior to posting this i did try contacting royale1223 in regards to this, but he said to contact the rom developer, he said he has moved on from the 'HWA Settings' project, and is no longer providing any answers nor support for it :(

Cheers for the link though, i will continue to explore this further :)

Indeed. I finally got it to work. What the tutorials I saw weren't telling me was to set up each partition as primary (used MiniTool).

Now, anyone get any benefit from RAM swap partition? Swapper apps dont seem to help.

Sidenote: 4.4 and 4.5 of his ROM do not install either dataonext or pure nand. For dataonext it never boots after Aroma is done installing. for pure nand the google setup app crashes on first boot. I install 4.3, then update in place to 4.4. 4.5 is WAY too crashy (GUI crashes and reloads many times a day, going back to mean Android logo spinny thing, sometimes takes several minutes to come back)

Resize your system partition to 400 MB.

Hi There,

Currently I am using NexusHD2-KitKat-CM11.0 V4.4 (Native SD)

Before installing NexusHD2 KitKat V4.4 to configure at start we have to install NexusHD2 KitKat V4.3 and then install NexusHD2 KitKat V4.4.
Therefore, just want to know that whether I can install NexusHD2 KitKat V4.5 directly over my NexusHD2 KitKat V4.4 or I need to do the fresh install of NexusHD2 KitKat V4.5.
I am using Native SD method.
If I can install NexusHD2 KitKat V4.5 directly over my NexusHD2 KitKat V4.4 instead of fresh install then do I need to take the backup of my data and apps?

Plz help me out.

ThnX
