Internet Connection

Postby bosone » Sat Sep 07, 2013 9:03 pm

Hi tytung,

Thank you for this excellent ROM. Its the first Android on my HD2. It works very well. I have not tested everything but until now I have just one issue. I have no internet connection over GSM or 3G. I tried play with everything I found but nothing. Is there a place where I can set up the network connection parameters?

Thank you

Softkey Mods for V3.1

Postby agbommarito » Sun Sep 08, 2013 2:42 am

Here is an update to the softkey mods for V3.1 of Tytung's Jellybean ROM. There are two modifications, landscape softkeys and a soft power button.

The installer ZIP file can be downloaded from this link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/22856583/NexusHD2-JB_V3.1-SoftkeyMods.zip. The file is flashable from recovery. There are individual options to select the landscape softkey mod and the power button mod in any combination.

I suggest that you first install or update your phone to V3.1 of Tytung's ROM and boot it up before you install these mods. A few minutes after boot-up, go back to recovery and install these mods.

Installing the power button mod adds two options to the CyanogenMod navigation bar editor, an invisible power button and a visible power button. After installation, you have to turn on the mod by going to Settings->System->Navigation Bar Buttons and layouts. Click the lock icon, then the small plus sign at the left of the navigation bar. Scroll to the power button option you want (either invisible or visible) and click it. Finally, click the lock icon again.

If you previously had the power button mod installed and you do an update, you don't have to turn-on the power button mod per the previous paragraph. The settings will be preserved through the update.

The issues with the V3.0 softkey mods now appear to be fixed, either through something Tytung did or some fixes in the CyanogenMod code base.

Thanks tytung.

One question, before I have used the patch for the V3.0 for RomName to *JellyBean43. Now it is time for me to go back to default *JellyBean name.
Is there a way to rename the existing *JellyBean43 to *JellyBean, so that the installation of V3.1 will update the existing one, and I do not have to do a clean install again?

Thanks

If you are running a NativeSD install and can access an SD card on a PC, it should be fairly easy to do. Install the ext file system driver from this post http://androidforum.tytung.com/full-read-write-access-to-ext2-ext3-ext4-file-systems-under-windows-t55.html on your PC. It will put an icon on your desktop. Insert the SD card from your phone to the PC and double-click the driver icon, then mount the Linux file system. You can then rename the SD card folder using Windows Explorer. Dismount the Linux file system. Now would be a good time to copy the V3.1 ZIP file to the SD card's FAT partition if you haven't done so already. Then eject the card. Put it back it your phone and power the phone on into recovery. Then install V3.1. Note that once the Linux folder is renamed you won't be able to boot your phone into the V3.0 ROM. The NativeSD stuff in the FAT directory won't match the Linux partition on your card. That's why you should install V3.1 immediately after the rename.

Finally, I haven't tried this. So as always, make sure you have a good backup before you proceed, including a backup of the NativeSD folder from the SD card FAT partition.
