Nexus 5

Postby tytung » Tue Nov 12, 2013 4:37 pm

I ordered a Nexus 5 from Japan (because Nexus 5 won't be sold on Google Play in Taiwan).
And my friend will visit Japan next week and then bring it back to me. :D
I'm wondering if someone also bought a Nexus 5.

BTW, thank you to everyone who ever donated to me.

Congrats, Tytung! You will be very pleased with it.

I am loving my LG G2 (D801), out of the box. :-D

Maybe the two are similar enough to create one ROM, which branches between the two devices via Aroma Installer. ;-)

Ya! LG G2 looks great too.
But 32GB version is too expensive in Taiwan.
So I choose Nexus 5 32GB. ;)

It probably will not fit. The SIM card used in the hd2 is the old, large one. The N4 and possibly the N5 also use a newer micro SIM.

Technically, you could cut the old one to the new, smaller size although it is easily damaged, but you would be much better off getting the latest version. You can always get an adapter (Tmobile wants money for it but you can usually talk them into giving it to you free) which will let you use the small one in the hd2 when desired.

I bought a Nexus 5 32GB the day it was announced. I've had it for a little over one week now, and I really like it. Great as the HD2 is, today's software seems to want more CPU and RAM to work well. No matter how much tweaking I do to the HD2, it still seems underpowered. The Nexus 5 has enough horsepower that I think it will last for a while, hopefully as long as the HD2 has.

The first thing I did on getting the new device was to root it. I used ChainFire's root method from XDA and it worked the first time.

NYLimited is right about the SIM. The N5 uses a micro SIM. I got mine for free from a T-Mobile store.

Good luck with the new device.

I had a doubt between Nexus5 and G2 and I choose G2, but with 16 GB 'cause that's enough for me. Still, HD2 will stay with me...

Anyway, congratulations on Nexus 5 - really great phone.

AFAIK, Chungwa telecom in Taiwan can let us get a micro SIM card and an adapter for free once.
