The same has happened to me. I think it is from the disk checking done by TWRP. There is a setting in TWRP, and probably in other recoveries, to check partitions every certain number of boots. The bigger your SD card, the longer the check will take.

This may explain what actually happened when I had to reinstall v2.6 several times before I got the data connection working. Sooner or later the installation "failed" in the sense that the phone got stuck in the HTC logo. I did not wait that long before I shut off the phone. After one more reinstallation the data started to work.
Does this mean that the reason why the data started to work for me was that TWRP checked the partitions, and fixed some possible errors?
