Here's something that I think will work for you, but I haven't tried it myself, as I'm perfectly happy with the SU capability that comes with Tytung's ROM.

First, reinstall Tytung's ROM using the Native SD method. Boot the ROM and let it settle. This is done to ensure a good starting point that has root.

Then go back to recovery and install SuperSU using this file: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/22856583/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.65-NexusHD2-JB-NativeSD.zip. The file is the recovery install of SuperSU with the script file modified to mount the NativeSD /system and /data partitions instead of the NAND partitions. If you look at the update-binary file in the "UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.65-NexusHD2-JB-NativeSD\META-INF\com\google\android" folder, you'll see that there are a lot of extra manipulations that happen during the install besides just copying the APK file to your device. I'm guessing that the lack of these extra manipulations are probably what caused your previous install attempts to fail.

Good luck, and please report back if you decide to try this.

Hi,
I've tried this way to install SuperSU. I've modified ths script to mount JellyBean43, as it's the name I've given to it to enable JB 4.2 and JB 4.3 on my ext4 partition. It seems that SuperSU is installed after applying this zip, but I can't no more update binary and use SuperSU !

tytung wrote:
You cannot update the su binary after flashing or installing SuperSU because you don't have the root permission (i.e., the file permission of /system/xbin/su is not 6755).
Please check it first.

I've tried that to. It seems that the permission were already OK because nothing changes after that (nor with the ls command, nor with root brower permission tool). And the binary can't be update.
I've made a try to install SuperSU in my 4.2 rom. As explained sooner, install from Play Store was OK, update too. I reboot to activate SuperSU, and then it was OK : app needing root rights ask them to SuperSU. Included superuser app remains active, but seems not to be used anymore. But, xhan rebooting my HD2 one more time, SuperSU was no more running, and superuser disappears from settings. So, after the second reboot, my 4.2 rom seems to be no more rooted, and I had no way to make superuser or SuperSU working !
So I tried to update 4.2 to 4.3, and the problem remained the same : I was back to my first problem !
So for now, I've reinstalled your 4.3 rom from scratch, and I give up to update it with SuperSU. I hope 4.3 specificities will be added to the superuser built-in app !

Odysseus wrote:I don't mean to discredit 4EXT in any way, I like it so much with my Amaze that I paid for it, but I'm not at all familiar with how well it works on the HD2. Out of the popular recoveries for the HD2, Extended-TWRP has the most HD2 features specific for this device, such as recognizing the modified Data-on-EXT or NativeSD installs that don't exist with most other phones. The other logical choice would be the custom CMR for the HD2 or the newer touch version.

benlm72 wrote:I will have a look to the CMR, as you advice me. I use 4Ext till NativeSD appeared for our HD2, I didn't know another way to install zip roms, backup roms with tytung's tool,...

If I am not mistaken Odysseus was pointing to TWRP Extended, not Clockwork Mod Recovery. TWRP Extended is especially useful when one has a DataOnEXT installation. As far as I recall 4EXT recovery has not been maintained/released for the HD2 in a long time, if it ever had an official HD2 version.

As for flashing a ROM I don't recall the last time I flashed an HD2 with anything other than TWRP...

Cheers!

Hi,
So I tried twrp2 to install tytung last rom, indeed it works well. The only thing I've noticed is that, when I use it to launch tytung's touch recovery tool, I can't backup any of my installed roms : backup seems to begin but jump instantly from 0% to 100%, and no backup is done. When I try then with 4Ext, I can backup my roms.

I suggested Extended-TWRP not TWRP2 in my previous post. For those who don't know, TWRP is an open sourced recovery project based upon code originally released by Google. It adds a great deal of additional functionality for all supported devices. Extended-TWRP by kokotas, adds additional useful features exclusive to the HD2. There are development threads for them both, here and at xda. Just do a search. Don't be confused, as kokotas is currently maintaining both the standard TWRP and Extended-TWRP for the HD2. The Extended-TWRP is the one most optimized for this device. More functionality is realized when used in conjunction with the Black-cLK bootloader, also maintained by kokotas. Note the details in my signature.

In order for TWRP to work correctly it must first be set it up to recognize your file system layout so that it understands whether you're using a native NAND, data-on-ext, or native SD install. This is done via the settings menu in recovery. Once setup, it will back up your installation correctly. If not, it will fail or be incomplete. Furthermore, backups with any version of TWRP must be initiated manually. It's not an automatic process.

In any event, if you're having success with 4ext and are satisfied with its functionality, who am I to steer you away from it? I can only go with my own experience in finding extended-TWRP to be an outstanding recovery for the HD2.

Ciao

Hi Odysseus,
What I name twrp2 is in fact the directory found in the zip file of Extended-TWRP. Sorry for the misunderstood !
And I don't feel forced to change to Extend-TRWP, but invited to test it as an alternative to 4Ext ! Thank's !

Welcome. Probably, zip file is corrupted. Can you open it with a zip app on PC without a problem?
