If you're using cLK or Black cLK bootloader it sometmes looses signal connectivity because it uses PPP instead of RMNET and requires rebooting to reacquire connection. This isn't so much a problem with magldr which uses RMNET natively.

The other could be an issue where the tiny copper pins that contact the back of the case can bend over time and cause some signal loss. The solution is to carefully unscrew and remove the back, exposing the contacts, then very gently prying them up a tiny bit. You must use extreme care as they're very fragile. I did this procedure on my old HD2 and it significantly improved both data and WiFi reception.

There's a thread detailing this along with photos and illustrated diagrams over at xda in the HD2 general forum.

I hope this helps

Ciao

These are the two pins which I marked in red? Photo from the internet, I know I have a broken pin in its entirety.

The photo you posted above shows 2 of the 6 pins I was talking about. There are 3 pairs of them, the first pair are the ones shown and there are two more pairs towards the bottom of the device. All of them serve multiple purposes as they both provide ground and transmit signal from the embedded antenna to the components on the mainboard.
Current device: HTC Amaze 4G
Bootloader: HTC - Dev unlocked, S-on
Recovery: 4ext - smart flash enabled
ROM: CM-10 - Compiled and customized by me - thanks spostsstar89 - CM - Team Nightmare

Previous device: HTC HD2 (TMOUS - LEO1024)
Final ROM: NexusHD2-JellyBean-CM10.1.3 v2.7 - Tytung

Hi @tytung,
I have a question. I'm on cLK with PPP connection. I found that switching data on/off works flawlessly if /system partition is mounted RW, but if it's mounted RO that data connection does not switch on. Do you have an idea what could be the problem - wrong permissions of some files??!!
Thanks in advance

It seems that the ppp wrapper lib may need to write some config files to /system/etc/ppp.

Mount /system partition as RW.
It's default setting, and you break it.
Paste your logcat to GitHub Gist or any similar websites, and link it in your post if you need any help. (Don't forget to tell us your HD2 setup/configuration.)

Thanks for the answer, tytung. Now the question for me is: Who (how) is remounting the /system partition to RO on every reboot (as in init.rc it is mounted RW)!!? I didn't do it manually or by script.

Hi
Thank you for your wonderful works Tytung.

I was wondering , the last time i checked Viber couldn't be used on any versions of android on HD2 , Is it possible to find a solution for this ? or is it like a hardware problem for eternity ;p ?

Not certain what you are asking about. I note 3 differences in the above.

  1. You have set the recovery partition size to "filesize". Although this will likely work it is not a good idea since it will create a partition which is big enough only for the recovery you are installing. Should you ever want to install a bigger recovery you will have to wipe your phone. A better idea is a fixed size of 6-10 MB to allow for newer versions of recovery.

  2. You changed the system partition size to 285. Depending on your device you *may* need larger (i.e. if you have bad blocks in NAND). If you are using DataOnEXT installation method you can go *much* larger since none of the space in 'userdata' will be used by anything.

  3. You are specifying 5MB for cache partition - although this will not do any harm it is not needed. 2 MB is more than enough for this.

Cheers!
