The other could be an issue where the tiny copper pins that contact the back of the case can bend over time and cause some signal loss. The solution is to carefully unscrew and remove the back, exposing the contacts, then very gently prying them up a tiny bit. You must use extreme care as they're very fragile. I did this procedure on my old HD2 and it significantly improved both data and WiFi reception.
